Ok, I've been having trouble trying to get my carbs to run right. I'm thinking they either need rebuilding or they arn't jetted right. The syptoms: accelerates awesome, but pops like crazy at constant speed and are sucking down fuel (8mpg). I can turn the idle-air screws all the way in and the RPMS never drop, all the way out and it still runs but pops much more and just smells like unburnt fuel. These carbs have 25mm venturi's in them instead of 28mm or 30mm, but the only things I can think are that I need different idle jets or the accelerator pump is leaking. Not sure how to figure out what size jets are currently in them (are they marked somewhere?). Anyone know a good source for parts to rebuild them?

jets could be part of the problem but the popping when running or letting off the acceleration is most likely intake leak.. spray some starter fluid around the manifold where it goes into the heads then also spray around the carb. you would notice a difference in idle if there is a leak... also the other sign is when you screw in the screw and nothing happens.. classic air leak... you won't be able to adjust anything till you seal it up... keep us posted on if you find anything..
