General Cool's and Not Cool's
Not Cool's: post for sale or wanted ads or business advertising in the Forums - The exception to this is in response to a request for information, e.g. "Who sells part xxxx?"
Not Cool's: use the Tech Forums for personal conversation or argument; use email or private messages
Not Cool's: post political, religious, or other non-technical comments or pictures in a technical thread.
Not Cool's: post non-technical comments or pictures in a technical thread, they will be removed at the moderator's discretion
Cool's: take administrator and moderator warnings seriously
Not Cool's: abuse site members on the forums, or through email or private messages
Not Cool's: create more than one account for any reason. If you have multiple accounts:
You may request to have older accounts consolidated
We will eliminate your duplicate account
Violating this rule may lead to deletion of ALL your accounts Cool's: comply with the Terms of Use posted on the site
Cool's: take responsibility for your own posts, because we will not
Posting Messages Cool's and Not Cool's
Cool's: use the search button before posting; your question may have been answered
Not Cool's: post nudity or graphic images, link to them using a NSFW warning (Not Safe For Work)
Not Cool's: post personal attacks based on sexual preference, religion, nationality, race, etc
Not Cool's: post abusive, inflammatory, or threatening messages
Not Cool's: post messages for the sole purpose of attacking a person or company or just to start an argument
Not Cool's: reply to posts with messages that don't add to the conversation. This includes smilies, funny photo(s), or "PM sent," among others.
Not Cool's: use excessive profanity
Not Cool's: use obscene or abusive language or images in avatars, usernames, or signatures
Not Cool's: use insult or ridicule other members in your avatar or signature, this includes using another member's picture as your avatar
Not Cool's: post the same message in multiple forums
Not Cool's: re-start a locked topic or a topic that has been removed by the moderators
Not Cool's: post messages asking why something was removed, ask a moderator or the admin (Schlank).
Not Cool's: post SPAM about your website, business, eBay ads, or Samba classified ads
Not Cool's: post links to active eBay auctions or craigslist ads unless the purpose is to highlight something that is misrepresented, involves possible fraud, or reproductions that are listed as real OR if the purpose is to discuss something of interest. Don't post "check this out, it's cheap" or similar messages.
Not Cool's: post people's full addresses or phone numbers without their permission
Not Cool's: post two messages in a row; edit your original message
Not Cool's: post complaints about a forum or moderator; contact Schlank privately. As a general policy, we discuss moderation-related topics only via private contact
Forum Etiquette Cool's and Not Cool's
Not Cool's: use excessive punctuation, smilies, annoying or unreadable text colors, or bold text
Not Cool's: post in ALL CAPS, this means you are yelling.
Not Cool's: post all your text in bold, in color, or in a large font size. These features are for emphasis only.
Cool's: think before you type; remember you are dealing with real people and you are not anonymous
Cool's: lurk before you post. Read the rules and some existing threads. Locate the search button
Cool's: respect other people's time and bandwidth, you are not the center of cyberspace Cool's: use the private message button or email for personal discussions
Not Cool's: abuse the quote button; include only as much as is necessary for context. This includes pictures
Cool's:limit the size of your signature or you will lose that privilege Cool's: help ensure a useful post or thread Cool's: stay on topic
Cool's: use a clear subject line; subjects like "LOL" or "Look at This!" are unacceptable
Cool's: provide enough details or pictures in your question so that people can help you
Cool's: post in the correct forum Cool's: help others. A forum is a community which works best when people share information
